However, she is so eager to please and impress Sarah she’s asked for extra work to do. She’s really managed to motivate her and Annie looks forward to going each week. She has such a warm, kind teaching style and makes you feel so welcome and heard. She makes sessions fun, creative and tailored to agreed objectives and a child’s needs. She took time to find out what I was looking for and spent time with my daughter, getting to know her and to understand her needs. She creates such a safe, flexible learning environment which massively helps reduce any anxiety a child may have allowing them to be their authentic best self to learn. Sarah recognised that my daughter had a stressful morning leading up to one of her sessions and took the time to let her settle by letting her feed their family pet gheko and cats (my daughter is a huge animal lover). This helped my daughter to be in a relaxed mindset ready to learn and enjoy her session. Sarah will build in breaks if needed and works with the child to bring out the best in them. She makes them feel proud of themselves and never puts any pressure on to complete learning set for home. My daughter has never completed homework in years, now she completes this as soon as she’s home as she enjoys showing Sarah what she has done at her next session. She feels good about it, not made to feel she will get a “bad point” if not completed. Everything is about supporting a child’s needs, she fits the learning around the child, not the child around the learning. I absolutely love that Sarah will tutor at your home or hers or even out and about if that’s what is needed! Her learning room at home is great, with all the resources needed to support her sessions, my daughter loves that Sarah always has her favourite biscuits on a plate and jug of water ready for her! The small touches like a folder with resources such as a whiteboard and pen to take home to use just add to the amazing service Sarah provides. She cares, she loves what she does and this rubs off on everyone she meets. My daughter Alessia has been going to Sarah for a while now for English SPAG 1-2-1 sessions. I was unsure how the sessions would go as let’s be honest not many children would be keen to have extra sessions of learning but I have to say that from the very first session, Alessia is hooked. She loves Sarah’s way of teaching and is enthusiastic each week to go. Sarah sets homework tasks but has made it zero pressure and Alessia is keen to do the homework (I think to impress Sarah). Sarah provides everything they need and has a wonderful welcome pack for the children and some really lovely touches to her services for the children in each session but I won’t give spoilers on here. As a parent what I really like is the little reports I get at the end of the session letting me know how it’s gone and what they’re working on. Such a nice touch. When I spoke with Sarah about what we are trying to achieve in these sessions it was all focused on helping Alessia be as confident in her abilities as possible, for her to feel good about her efforts and to get a better understanding of some questions that may arise in her sats. I really couldn’t have wished for a better learning experience for Alessia. She’s incorporating her sessions with Sarah into her school work which is just brilliant and it’s helping by introducing homework in a really nice way before she starts secondary school on September and has the shock of her life. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Sarah to anyone. Tutoring isn’t just for the best grades, it’s improving confidence, understanding things clearly and most of all ……. self belief.
